Legal definition for licensing – Security Technician

Engineering Managers are responsible for the technical programming (hardware and firmware), configuration and commissioning of electronic security equipment and systems.  Responsibility may include technical key account management and supplier technical management.

Duties
  • Advanced CAD conversions
  • Programming and configuration of hardware/firmware
  • Production of “for construction” plans
  • Cable schedule production
  • Panel layout and design
  • Client training and commissioning
  • Ensure health and safety requirements are followed
  • Provide leadership and guidance to other technical staff
  • Provide high level engineering and technical support to technical and sales team
  • Performing other duties as directed
Role Requirements
  • Must be 18+ years old
  • Must have normal colour vision (electrical components are normally colour coded)
  • Must be confident in leading teams and setting standards
  • Accurate and methodical
  • Must have strong engineering and project management skills
  • Must have a clean criminal record
  • Preferable to hold a NZ Drivers Licence
  • Must have good written and spoken English
  • Able to work well under pressure

Working Conditions
  • Usually work regular business hours but may have to be on call or irregular hours

Industry Training
  • NZCiES Level 3 and 4 (New Zealand Certificate in Electronic Security)

Note: Available as a two-year Apprenticeship Programme

Indicative Pay Scales
  • Entry level – $85,000 to $95,000
  • Mid-level – $95,000 to $110,000
  • High level – $110,000 to $125,000 plus vehicle
