Legal definition for licensing – Property Guard
The role of Security Guards is to keep people, property and assets safe and to prevent crime. They prevent risks and deter crime, watch out for potential dangers and risks, and report issues that they may encounter.
Security Guards provide a preventative approach to crime whereas Police Officers and other law enforcement agents adopt a reactive response, looking to intervene or respond when crime and violence occurs, or following such events.
Mandatory Training (Unit Standards 27360, 27361 and 27364) is required for this role.

Duties
- To be clearly visible

Role Requirements
- Must be 18+ years old
- Must be able to work irregular hours (24 x 7 industry)
- Must be confident and capable of working alone
- Must have reasonable fitness
- Must have a clean criminal record
- Preferable to hold a NZ Drivers Licence
- Must have good written and spoken English
- Requirement to complete mandatory training requirements to obtain Certificate of Approval to work in industry (3-month window to complete)
